Week 15 & 16
These two weeks were two uneventful weeks. We kept pushing forward, sticking to the plan and doing our best to stay focused. The amount of time that we have been our this journey is starting to weigh down on us. We are getting tired and would like to be back to a normal routine and enjoy some other foods that we are not currently eating while we are trying to lose weight.
Some days are harder than others. If we find ourselves not keeping busy, our minds will start to wander and we start thinking of foods we shouldn’t eat. We keep reminding ourselves that this weight loss phase will not last forever and if we don’t give up, we will make it to the end!
Weigh-in Week 15
Andrew lost 2.8 lbs bring his total weight loss to 58.4 lbs. Sarah lost 1.8 lbs bringing her total to an even 40lbs weight loss.
Weigh-in Week 16
Andrew lost 1.6 lbs. His total weight loss is now 61.2 lbs. Sarah lost 1.6 lbs making that 41.8 lbs in total.
During week 16, we also took our measurements again. Here are the results.
Andrew lost another 3 inches overall bringing his total inches loss to 27.5 inches.
Sarah lost 5 inches overall with a total of 29.5 inches loss since we started.
Week 17
We continue to try new recipes each week so that we have a variety of meals each week.
Since we started, our kids have been eating our lean and green meals each night with us. They occasionally will eat out with friends, but for more the most part they are eating healthier at home. I stopped buying junk food and started stocking the frig and pantry with healthier options. Since doing this, they have all started to see their weight drop! Though, they did admit that they bought a pack of Oreos and secretly ate them together in the backroom without us knowing. 😂 Now you know why I have an Oreo in the main graphic. I know you were thinking that we ate some Oreo’s this time, but we didn’t!!
NON SCALE VICTORIES
This week we had some NSV for us.
Wearing my shirt tucked was never a flattering look on me, so I would always wear my shirts out. Since I have dropped several sizes in my jeans I thought I would try to see how I looked with my shirt tucked in. I needed a belt to complete the look, so I went to put my belt on and it was way too big. First of all, I have no idea what I was thinking when I grabbed my belt. This was my old belt, of course, it would be too big for me. I could have created a new hole so I could continue to wear the belt, but I decided to ask Zoe if I could borrow her belt. As she was giving it to me, I thought I doubt it will fit me. As I started to put it on and went to do the buckle, I was shocked. IT FIT ME! 😁 Now, don’t start thinking that I’ve lost that much weight. I was only able to buckle it on the first hole.
We were planning on making a new dish for dinner Saturday evening, but all three kids informed us they all had plans for dinner so we decided to go out. Earlier that day, we were talking about going to Texas Roadhouse to see how well Andrew could fit in their booths. In the past, Andrew squeezed in those booths and I mean squeezed in. He looked so uncomfortable every time we went there, which was not often due to the booth size. So when our kids told us they had plans, we decided not to cook dinner and to eat out at the Texas Roadhouse restaurant. Andrew goes to sit down and he slides in with no problems. Happy tears as this was another confirmation that he has lost a lot of weight!
Such a wonderful feeling! Look! he had inches between him and the table! 😁
Another NSV moment for me was trying on this vest that I bought a year ago. I bought my size at the time, but it was too small. It was either marked the wrong size or their sizes run really small. When I put this vest on a year ago, I couldn’t even get close to even attempt zipping it up. Here I am wearing that vest and it fits perfectly now!
As I have mentioned before, we have our good days and we have our tough days. There are many days we wish we could eat certain foods. At the moment, the plan we are on cuts out certain fruits and vegetables so that we can be in a constant fat-burning state. Once we reach our goal weight, we will be able to resume eating those fruits and vegetables. We have been on this program for nearly four months now and we are getting to a point where we are missing those foods.
Again, we are constantly telling ourselves that this will not last forever and that if we stick to the plan we will see ourselves lose all the weight we are aiming to lose.
OVERALL PROGRESS
Our health coach created this pic below and I can’t believe the progress we have made in nearly four months! I looked at this picture in shock. I knew we had lost weight. Our new clothes were proof of that but it hasn’t clicked mentally that we are skinner. I still feel overweight. So seeing our first photo when we started next to the photo of where we are now, I’m speechless. That’s us! We did that! We persevered! This little reminder is what I needed to see this morning and help motivate me to keep going.
I hope by posting these photos that you are empowered to do what you need to do to reach your health goals.
It’s never too late to start!
Week 17 Weigh-In
Andrew gained 1lb. His total weight loss is now 60.2 lbs. He’s still going up and down, but mostly down. I’m sure that next week he will lose 3-4 lbs. So we are not worried about the 1 lb gain. I lost 1.8 lbs and my total weight loss is 43.6 lbs. Onderland is in reach!!!
Thanks for following our journey. Sharing our story to the world is not easy and posting our pictures is WAY out of our comfort zone. We realize the struggle is real for many and we wanted to document what we are doing for two reasons.
One, to help hold us accountable! We are at the beginning of our journey and we know that we have a long road ahead of us.
Two, we want to encourage others to help take their health back! It’s never too late! The hardest part about starting this journey is just saying YES to a healthier YOU!!
